AEM Access
Security Groups and Permissions
Within AEM there are various levels of user roles and depending on which user role you have been assigned to you may have different rights and/or modules available to you. The matrix below explains what rights each role has available to them.
- Site Admins: Can edit/publish any pages/assets (including forms) within the site and can access site reports and edit/update tags
- Site Authors: Can edit/publish any pages/assets within the site
- Form Authors: Can edit/publish Forms, often used in conjunction with Site Authors, but must be separatly specified during security request.
- Site View-Only: Can only review pages in "author" environment. Can NOT make any changes to pages or assets.
*Other rights: There are more granular groups and rights which can be applied if necessary, but generally are not encouraged to be used unless required. Contact DoIT.WebServices@illinois.gov If you have a specific security related need for more granualar security.
Requesting Access
Requesting access to AEM requires a Service Now ticket submitted by an Agency Technology Service Requestor or ATSR. Supervisor's and management can send an email to DoIT.ATSR.Telecom@Illinois.gov who will route their reqeust to the proper ATSR for your agency. Your ATSR will submit IT Service Request for access to the agency website/assets/forms on the AEM platform.
Information should include:
- A comment to route the ticket to the DoIT Web Services Team; and
- What access needs to be granted (path to sites/assets/forms & level of control: admin, author, restricted author, etc.); and
- Whenever possible, also including "permissions should mirror "user xyz" is extremely helpful for the security team when assigning permissions.
