Goodbye Google Translate Hello WeGlot
With the online Google Translation widget being deprecated, the Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) has selected WeGlot as the standard enterprise tool for translating websites and applications. WeGlot is a web-based translation tool that enables websites and applications to translate content into multiple languages. It is similar to Google Translate, but it provides the option to allow for a "human in the loop" to correct any automatically generated translations, allowing users to customize translations to suit the specific context of words or phrases. WeGlot is a reliable tool and is widely used by many large companies.

Imagine being asked to translate a phrase without knowing the context. Most likely, you'll either translate it incorrectly not because of your incompetence, but because the intended meaning is not considered during the translation. Despite the progress of AI in translating content on the internet, there are still gaps that need to be filled. This is where manual translation for WeGlot comes in. The issue is that you will only be given a side-by-side comparison of the phrases/sentences. Thankfully, WeGlot has created a feature called "Visual Editor" that allows translators to view the webpage and see where the text is in the context of the rest of the page content, enabling them to edit it on the spot.
