Mobile Design Considerations

When we author content and present it to the rest of the world, we curate our pages and content through the Author environment, typically accessed via a personal computer and creating out our websites for these devices.

However, as years and decades have come and passed, it has become more apparent just how integrated we are with the mobile world today. Cell phones and tablets are a standard and have all but completely replaced home phones. Internet is accessible now more than ever across the globe, allowing users from remote locations to even access information and services that would otherwise be impossible 30, 20.....even 10 years ago!

With that being said, roughly 50% of the total population in the United States is accessing these resources from a mobile device; while not a majority, is still significant. In comparison, ~94% of the entire world population accesses the internet routinely with a mobile device, while only about 63% are dedicated or inclusive to a desktop device.

Adjusting Content for a Mobile World

Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) is a "mobile-first" environment built with accessibility at the forefront. Sometimes though, in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we may forget just how much we take for granted seeing a mobile-efficient website in action.

As Authors, we need to ensure that our Desktop site isn't getting all the attention and that we also focus on the mobile design elements, because as we know, a huge chunk of traffic comes from these mobile devices. These mobile-focused topics include:
