Moving and/or Renaming a Page
IMPORTANT!!
Before Moving or Renaming a Page, be sure to first Unpublish the page.
The procedure to move or rename a page are both accessed through the "Move" option.
In short, the Move option will let you:
- Rename a page without moving it.
- Move the page without renaming it.
- Move and rename at the same time.
Select the Page to Move and/or Rename
Begin the process by navigating to and hard selecting a page. Then click on "Move."
Rename
(The following only applies if you are renaming the page title and/or URL. If you are only moving the page, Click "Next" and skip to the next step "Select the Destination").
Rename your Page Title if it needs to better reflect the page content or have a more SEO friendly Page Title
Rename the Page Name to update the URL. The Page Name field (think URL) should not contain uppercase and special characters. Spaces should be replaced by dashes.
- Example: The Page Title is being changed from "Types of Homes" to "Types of Nursing Homes"
- Example: The Page Name (URL) is being changed from "types" to "types-of-nursing-homes"
BEFORE renaming
Be sure that the Page Name (URL) has no spaces. Hyphens can separate words, and are better for SEO purposes then underscores.
AFTER renaming
Select the Destination
If you just want to rename the page, you can select the same parent page it is currently under. If you want to move it elsewhere, select a different page for it to reside under.
If you move a page to a location where a page with the same name already exists, the system will automatically generate a variation of the name by appending a number. For example, if nursing-homes already exists it will become nursing-homes1.
After selecting the Destination, click "Next" in the top right corner.
You will then be prompted to confirm by clicking "Move" in the top right corner.
What if the Page has Child Pages?
In the event the Page being renamed and/or moved has child pages, the process remains the same for this page.
However, if you need to rename one or more of the child pages, you will need to use this same process for each individual child page.
You will have now the option to move the page Now or Later.
Once you click Continue, the page will republish on the live site.
Confirm
You may want to confirm that the page has moved to the desired location by navigating through the Site Navigation folders.
