Form Authoring Environment

Locate the Form

To edit a new or existing form, you need to hard select it (click on the icon rather than the title area) and click on "Edit".

Basic Authoring Environment

Once you open a form for editing, you will see a screen with a number of options and interfaces.

  1. Sidebar - This area is a tab environment that allows you to view, edit, and/or insert:
    • Content - this view lets you see and locate form content such as panels, components, fields, and layout already added to the form. You can also rearrange form objects on this tab.
    • Properties - Edit component properties. Properties change according to the component. To view a component's properties, select the component then click on the wrench in the toolbar.
    • Assets - Add assets such as form fragments, PDFs, images, and videos
    • Components - the building blocks of a form
    • Data Sources -

    • Open Properties
    • Start Workflow
    • Open in Classic UI
    • Help
  3. Mode - Selecting different modes allows you to perform various functions within the authoring environment
    • Edit - Allows you to edit the properties of the form & its components.
    • Style - Allows you to style the appearance of components of the form, such as background color.
    • Developer - Discover what forms are composed of and debug issues.
    • Layout - Allows you to adjust the size or layout of a component, and see how the layout may need to be adjusted on different screen sizes.
    • Preview - Allows you to preview how the form will look once you publish it
  4. Component Container - On any editable page, you will see a root container in which you can add various components to populate the page. To add a component, you have three options:
    1. Double click on "Drag components here" and you will see a menu pop up, allowing you to select a component from the list.
    2. Single click on "Drag components here" and you will see an "+" icon, which prompts the same component list that you can select from.
    3. Open the side panel and drag and drop one of the options from the component library.
