Possible online services disruption due to Internet related outage

A worldwide technology outage is causing disruption to some State of Illinois online systems.  We are aware of this issue and are diligently working on restoration.

Event

Description

Event is a component embedded as part of the Event Template to showcase details about an event.

Authoring

The Event component is embedded into the Event Template by default. While it is editable, it does not require any modifications because it automatically populates based on the properties you entered in the Event tab of the properties page.

Embedded as part of this component are the Social Sharing, Print, Email Sharing, and ICS Download components. They also do not require any modifications.

Creating an Event

Events are created and edited differently from other components. After selecting the event component in the content tree, rather than choosing "Edit" select "Properties".

Once you are viewing Properties, select the EVENTS tab at the end of the properties options.

From here you will be able to enter the Title and Dates and other details for your Event.

Adding a Map

A Map can be added to your event by entering the Latitude and Longitude in the Event Property settings and then clicking the checkbox next to "Display Map on Page". (screengrab below)

For Latitude, coordinates in the Northern Hemisphere will be a positive value, whereas coordinates in the Southern Hemisphere will be negative.

For Longitude, coordinates in the Eastern Hemisphere will be positive and in the Western Hemisphere will be negative.

For most locations in Illinois, your Latitude coordinate should be represented as a positive value, and your Longitude coordinate should be represented as a negative value.

To add a map in an event, you will need to enable maps in the Footer.
