Side Navigation
Side Navigation is a component embedded into the left navigation page template that serves as the navigation element for traversing within specific sections of the site.
The Side Navigation can be edited on any page built using the Left Navigation Template. By default, any changes made to the Side Navigation on a given page will be inherited by all its child pages that are also built using the same template.
Configuring the Properties Tab
Side Navigation can be built with in two ways:
- Site Structure builds a dynamic navigation based on the hierarchy of the site's page/folder structure.
- Manual Navigation enables authors to design a unique navigation where the parent pages and child pages are built manually.
Configuring with "Site Structure"
- Navigation Root*: Select a page as the navigation root so all its child pages will be displayed in the Side Navigation.
- Note, when a new side navigation page is created (one without a preceding page of the same template), you have to configure the navigation root.
- Exclude Root Levels: Set to determine how many levels from the root to skip in the display. Use "1" to grab and display the child pages of the path selected.
- Collect all child pages: When checked, this will grab all descendant pages from the navigation root. When unchecked, only the direct descendants based on the Navigation Root and Excluded Root Levels will be listed.
- Disable shadowing: When checked, any redirect pages will display the original page Title. When unchecked, the item will instead show the Title of the page being redirected to.
Configuring with "Manual"
- Configuration Path*: Select a page for manual navigation that was built with the Manual Page Template.
- For more information on building Manual Navigation, see the Manual Navigation page.
Configuring with "Accessibility Tab"
- Label: Add an aria label for accessibility.
